Our final meeting of 2018, on Monday, December 3, 7 pm at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, 3512 Darrow Rd., will feature a program by our own CFI-NEO webmaster, and retired University of Akron professor, Mel Vye. Mel will take us along on his recent visit to Bhutan, a small landlocked country in South Asia. Located in the Eastern Himalayas, it is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north, the Sikkim state of India and the Chumbi Valley of Tibet in the west, the Arunachal Pradesh state of India in the east, and the states of Assam and West Bengal in the south. Bhutan is geopolitically in South Asia and is the region’s second least populous nation after the Maldives. Thimbu is its capital and largest city, while Phuntsholing is it’s financial center. Mel will share with us his observations of this predominantly Buddist and Hindu nation as he traveled around it in September of this year.
As always there will be time for questions and answers after Mel’s presentation. Also as usual, anyone who wishes to continue the discussion after the meeting is welcome to join us up the street at the Stow Beef O’Brady’s for drinks or a late dinner. Please join us for this fascinating look at a country that is off the beaten path. We hope you can join us!
