Center for Inquiry Northeast Ohio
The CFI NE Ohio annual picnic will be Sunday, August 18, from 1 to 5 pm where it has been for the past several years, at the Old Walker Shelter of Portage Lakes State Park, 4357 State Park Drive, New Franklin (formerly Manchester Twp.) 44319. This is off of State Route 619 (Turkeyfoot Rd.). The road to the park is to the south, just west of Deitz’s Landing restaurant. DO NOT go to the main state park entrance off of Manchester Rd. (SR 93). They are not connected.
Unlike in years past, this year’s picnic will be open to members and visitors alike, and we encourage new people to attend. So, we will be modifying the format this year to be more of a pot luck picnic. The Chapter will provide basics (Burgers, dogs, buns, cheese, condiments, serving supplies, ice, some beverages (ice tea, lemonade, water). We ask that those attending RSVP to Chapter Chair Paul Woodring either by phone at (330) 807-7653, or email, “email@example.com” by Friday, August 16, and let him know what you will be bringing, or ask for suggestions on what is needed either by phone, email, or in the comments section of this meeting notice.
We also expect CFI NE Ohio webmaster and picnic pavilion reserver Mel Vye to once again grace us with his pontoon boat for rides around the lakes, always a hit with attendees. We thank Mel for donating the reservation fee for the shelter, and also in advance for bringing his boat (weather permitting).
We hope to see many of you at this year’s picnic for good food, great conversation and fellowship with your fellow secular humanists, and a great time to be had by all!
