Description:

The August Cleveland Branch meeting, Wednesday, the 8th, 7 pm, at the Richmond Heights Library, 5235 Wilson Mills Rd., will feature a group discussion led by VP of Programming, Mark Tiborsky, on Truth in Media: Who Can You Trust? Remember the “good old days” when FOX News seemed like the only major news outlet that would spread dubious information – and it seemed like all other major news outlets could more or less be trusted? Remember when it seemed as if most of the more liberal online news journals and blogs, such as Huffington Post, AlterNet, etc., could be counted on to be objective? Are those days gone, or are there still some news outlets, journals and blogs that still objectively digest newsworthy items, while remaining based in reason while being subjective?

Hopefully those questions and more will be answered to the satisfaction of most during what promises to be a lively and animated discussion. Mark will provide various materials as “jumping off” points for discussion, and for the group to ponder. The open-floor discussion will be as structured as possible, but essentially un-moderated. Attendees are more than welcome to suggest online materials for the group to examine at the meeting. As usual, light refreshments will be served!

We hope to see you there!
